This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to install and manage small scale networks, either as an independent network support technician or as part of a team.
This course is designed to develop knowledge and skills in the area of computer system and network management and also provides training in networking, Linux administration, Windows servers, security and client support.
Combination of core units and specialist elective units in this course may provide a logical pathway to vendor certifications such as CISCO IT Essentials and CISCO 1 and 2 (ICND1 and ICND2).
This program is aimed at learners wishing to develop a career within the Information Technology field with networking specialisation or to pursue higher studies. It is also suitable for those who have completed a Certificate III qualification within the Information Technology or related domains and looking to upgrade their skills to further their academic and career prospects
Notes: Most of the technical units in this course use CISCO equipment and technoligies. However, the college has no arrangement with CISCO Academy for certification or articulation. Students must seek separate advice on CCNA/CCNP certification requirements.
The Certificate IV a qualifies individuals who apply specialised knowledge in a range of contexts to undertake advanced skilled or paraprofessional work and as a pathway for further learning.
